Mariana Trench – Pacific (subducted) and Philippine plates – extends for 11km off the coast of Philippines and is the deepest trench on earth

Oceanic-continental plate collisions
Peru-Chile (Atacama) Trench – Nazca (subducted) and South American plates
Kuril Trench – Pacific (subducted) and Okhotsk plates

Rift valleys
East African Rift Valley – extends some 5500km from Mozambique to Lebanon

Valley floor lakes
Freshwater lake – Lake Malawi (EARV)
Soda lake – Lake Natron (EARV)

Mid-ocean ridges
Mid-Atlantic ridge – runs midway between the Americas and Europe/Africa

Volcanic islands
Azores, Ascension Island, Canaries – all along the MAR

San Andreas Fault – extends some 1300km on the western coast of California

Stratovolcanoes – Kilimanjaro and Lengai, Tanzania;
Shield volcanoes – Loa, Hawaii
Basalt plateaus – Deccan Plateau, West India
